Based at Rother Valley Country Park, you will work as and when required. 

You will provide instruction through formal courses and casual instruction, in a full range of Watersports and land based activities.

Working as part of a team or individually at the Watersports Centre your duties will include the provision of instruction to the public and user groups as required, the deployment of craft and equipment, operation of rescue services and the maintenance of related equipment, guiding, instructing and assisting the visiting public, to ensure the care and maintenance of buildings, equipment and associated services and ensuring the general tidiness of operating areas.

National governing body qualifications from either The Royal Yachting Association or British Canoe Union and experience of Watersports related employment is essential to this post.

You will be required to work regular anti-social hours involving evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

In order to support the Council’s requirement to save a further £41 million from its budget, by collective agreement, from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2020 there is a temporary 1.15% pay reduction from the advertised substantive salary quoted, which will be spread out by means of a weekly/monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part time workers and new starters in year) will be granted.
