Rotherham is striving to become a child friendly borough – as such we are caring and committed to improving outcomes for our children.  We have an ambitious programme of improvement and we are determined to provide good quality assessment and support to ensure our children and young people are helped to achieve their full potential and better outcomes in life.  We are ensuring that we make the right decision for the right child at the right time.

We are working with children, families and our partners to ensure;

Children and young people are healthy and safe from harm

Children and young people start school ready to learn for life

Children, young people and their families are ready for the world of work

This will mean our children, young people and families are proud to live and work in Rotherham

We will deliver on our promise to our children – will you?

The Duty Service is made up of 5 teams who undertake assessments on new referrals across the Borough.  The service operates a 10 week duty rota by the end of which each team will have spent 10 days on duty, allowing time off duty to complete assessments and other tasks associated.  As the team manage all incoming assessments, this will include S47 investigations; initiating care proceeding; accommodating children; private law reports; risk assessments; pre birth assessments; Legal gateway planning meetings; initiating PLO processes.  Work is varied, complex and fast paced.

This post is specifically for a Team Manager in the Duty Service.

With new leadership in place and a heartfelt pledge to provide a best practice centre of excellence, we are committed to cultivating a positive, performance-led culture underpinned by plenty of support at all levels. Increasing the number of our teams and upgrading our systems we have reduced caseloads and paperwork, giving our staff more time to dedicate to building relationships that matter. We are confident that you will be joining an organisation that is rewarding in every sense. And most importantly, that will serve our community to the highest possible standards.

Our Team Managers lead social worker teams within Children’s Social Care. As such they are the lynch pins in our organisation: leading and supporting our people in the field and carrying out the day-to-day management of services to our children and young people. Reporting to Service Managers, our Team Managers play a crucial role, dealing with staff at all levels, interpreting and communicating feedback and providing an important, positive interface for their practitioners, in a multi-agency environment. We are confident that you will be joining an organisation that is rewarding in every sense, for every individual.  And most importantly, that will serve our community to the highest possible standards.

We have invested in training programmes and set out a clear career development pathway. From continuing your professional development with ongoing, practical training, to reaching senior management levels, at Rotherham there is a definite ladder to be climbed for those with talent and ambition. In return we are looking for a real commitment to making a difference to the children and families in Rotherham.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced, flexible and dedicated social workers in a managerial role, to really make a difference for Rotherham’s Children and their families.
