We are committed to making sure that every child makes the best start in life and are striving to become a child-friendly borough. Rotherham is a great place to live and work.

We are seeking talented and inspirational professionals within CYPS who can;

  • Innovate to help redefine children’s services
  • Promote “signs of safety” as a strengths based approach to build family resilience
  • Develop meaningful relationships with staff via extensive learning and development opportunities including coaching and mentoring
  • Add value and make the most of available resources

Our vision is for the children and families of Rotherham to routinely experience and describe the services they receive from us, as outstanding.  And we intend to do that by putting the child first in everything we do and invest in quality learning and development programmes for all our staff.

This Service Manager is responsible for leading continual practice improvement in accordance with the ‘Beyond Auditing’ Quality Assurance Framework which advocates real-time coaching with practitioners and front-line managers as part of an extensive audit programme across all casework teams and services in the department. They will ensure that the team co-ordinates, develops and facilitates quality assurance activity by advising, supporting and assisting the wider management group.  This role plays a key role in enabling the service to achieve and maintain best practice standards through reviewing and analysing practice evidence and measuring this against OFSTED grade descriptors and best practice standards.  They will ensure coaching and mentoring of practitioners and managers to ensure that meaningful engagement and accountability is achieved across the service.  This role manages a team of Audit and Practice Consultants and the Learning and Development Team.

Within the context of a new leadership team, an increasingly stable and permanent workforce in place and a heartfelt commitment to providing a best practice centre of excellence, you will play a vital role in building on our performance culture - providing leadership, direction and support that is rewarding in every sense, for every individual.

You will have experience of leading and managing staff and resources in a frontline service.
You will be a strategic thinker but also a practical problem-solver.
You will think on your feet, and be agile enough to step in quickly when you need to.
You will be an approachable leader and mentor to your teams.
You will prioritise, set the pace and sometimes make tough decisions.
You will be passionate about maximising a child’s life chances.
You will be compassionate, with your staff and their customers.
You will be enlightened, flexible and open to new ways of doing things.
You will care.
