Independent Assessing Social Workers (Fostering) - Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council’s Fostering Service is currently recruiting Independent Assessors to work on a sessional basis to undertake Skills to Foster Assessments on prospective foster carers. The assessors will benefit from £1800 per completed assessment, plus mileage and expenses.
There will be opportunities to join the fostering recruitment team and be part of a virtual assessment team who undertake Skills to Foster Assessments on behalf of Rotherham Council.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
If you are interested and have experience completing Fostering assessments then this could be the ideal role for you.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in UK, be social work qualified, have a clean driving licence and be HCPC registered.
You will have experience of undertaking fostering assessments (Skills to foster assessments, Form F Assessments or Connected Person’s Assessments)
You will have an understanding of the needs of looked after children, fostering legislation and initiatives
You will be able to organise your daily workload independently
You will be able to demonstrate initiative and be able to respond independently to unexpected situations
You will be willing to undertake training and be available for supervision
You will be passionate about maximising a child’s life chances
You will be willing to work flexibly e.g evenings and weekends
You will be able to confidently present completed assessments to fostering panel and provide ongoing support to prospective foster carers.

Careful consideration should be given regarding the impact on their substantive post and a conversation with their line manager is needed prior to any application to establish whether this role could fit alongside their substantive post.
