Rotherham MBC is looking to recruit an experienced Democratic Services Officer to join its small Committee Services team. 

The team provides comprehensive governance and administrative support across a wide range of Committees, and also provides support for the Members who serve on those Committees.

The successful post holder will have the opportunity to work at the centre of the organisation playing a key part of a team delivering efficient governance, committee, administration and support services for the organisation and it’s Elected Members. 

We are looking for enthusiastic team players with excellent committee administrative skills who are highly organised and have experience of working within a busy environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to extend their experience and further enhance their existing skills at the heart of the Council’s decision-making forum.  

Candidates should have a good grounding in committee and governance work and be able to contribute effectively to the Council’s decision-making processes. 

It is anticipated that interviews will be held in w/c 3rd December, 2018

This post is classed as 'politically restricted' under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended). The full details of the restrictions are set out in the Statutory Instrument, but broadly the restrictions prohibit candidature from public elected office; holding office in a political party; as well as involvement in political activities such as canvassing or public speaking/writing.

In order to support the Council’s requirement to save a further £41 million from its budget, by collective agreement, from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2020 there is a temporary 1.15% pay reduction from the advertised substantive salary quoted, which will be spread out by means of a weekly/monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part time workers and new starters in year) will be granted.

This post will have access to the Public Services Network, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).
