We have recently reviewed and reorganised the Finance service to ensure that it has the capacity and leadership required to deliver the excellent service that is needed and expected in order to achieve the Council’s future ambitions. A member of the Financial Services Management Team (see attached structure chart), the post holder will lead the finance team providing high level finance business partnering advice and support to the Leadership Team and Service Managers within the Directorate for Adults, Public Health and Housing.
The post holder will also be a member of the Directorate’s Leadership Team and will be responsible for delivery of a work programme jointly set by the Strategic Director - Adults, Public Health & Housing and the Strategic Director - Finance and Customer Services. The post holder reports to the Assistant Director – Financial Services (Deputy S151 Officer).

This post is classed as 'politically restricted' under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended). The full details of the restrictions are set out in the Statutory Instrument, but broadly the restrictions prohibit candidature from public elected office; holding office in a political party; as well as involvement in political activities such as canvassing or public speaking/writing.
In order to support the Council’s requirement to save a further £41 million from its budget, by collective agreement, from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2020 there is a temporary 1.15% pay reduction from the advertised substantive salary quoted, which will be spread out by means of a weekly/monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part time workers and new starters in year) will be granted.
