We have recently reviewed and reorganised the Finance service to ensure that it has the capacity and leadership required to deliver the excellent service that is needed and expected in order to achieve the Council’s future ambitions. The post holder will have responsibility for delivering high level advice, guidance and support in a specialist area which significantly influences, either directly or indirectly, the trust and confidence of the community and/or Council. They will also have responsibility for producing whole Council strategies which support the internal management of the Council.
The role will be responsible for delivery of a work programme jointly set by the Strategic Directors of Regeneration & Environment and Adults, Public Health & Housing and the Strategic Director - Finance and Customer Services. The post holder reports to the Assistant Director – Financial Services.

This post is classed as 'politically restricted' under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended). In order to support the Council’s requirement to save a further £41 million from its budget, by collective agreement, from 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2020 there is a temporary 1.15% pay reduction from the advertised substantive salary quoted, which will be spread out by means of a weekly/monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part time workers and new starters in year) will be granted.
